The Parliamentary Research Commission on Strengthening the Participation of Persons with Disabilities in Social Life, Identifying the Problems They Encounter, and Developing Permanent Solutions, established for this purpose, has been carrying out its activities under the chairmanship of Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu since 3 July 2025. The Commission aims to identify the challenges faced by citizens with disabilities living across all regions of Türkiye and to develop feasible and sustainable solution proposals to address these challenges. Within the scope of the Commission’s activities, an Online Consultation Meeting with Disabled Student Coordination Units was held on 15 December 2025 in order to identify the needs and problems of students with disabilities in higher education, to discuss solution-oriented approaches, and to evaluate examples of good practices. A total of 90 universities, including the Tarsus Disabled Student Counseling and Coordination Unit, participated in the meeting. During the meeting, issues and solution proposals related to increasing accessibility in universities—particularly in the areas of education, social and cultural activities, transportation, employment, accommodation, and physical accessibility of campus facilities—were discussed.
